Digital Signage Increases ROI: But is it Right for your Business?

Digital Signage Increases ROI: But is it Right for your Business?

You see them everyday, but never thought why your business would need one.

An informational display can be placed in strategic areas such as near an elevator

Digital signage is a static or interactive way for you to communicate news, photos, videos and more to your customers in a lobby, trade show, event or even in your home. It can be as simple as a single-point display or a network of displays that are remotely managed by web interface that you can control.

You’ve seen them; a menu at a fast food chain, an airport schedule of flights or even advertisements running in a casino showing video of a beautiful steak being grilled or a colorful cocktail making your mouth water.

Here are some questions and answers that will help you decide whether or not digital signage is feasible or appropriate for your business.

What does digital signage consist of? Isn’t it expensive?

While there are many flavors of digital signage, it doesn’t have to be expensive at all. Even multi-location signage is easy to set up and maintain. While a single point sign can have only an initial hardware investment and set up fee, it can be configured for your marketing department to easily update. Multi-location signage, especially if it’s location-specific, can include a small monthly fee but is relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain. The best part is, you own it.

Signage can be placed in landscape or portrait mode depending on your specific application

What does the hardware consist of?

Again, there are different ways to set up digital signage for your business. The simplest versions include only a LED television and a small computer called a Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi comes in a kit for under $100 and well, televisions are dramatically dropping in price. Any television with an HDMI port will do. Size is entirely up to you. The small computers use WiFi to communicate with the interface to make it easy to update from any desktop or mobile device.

What is involved in installation?

There are two parts to the installation. First, someone needs to set up and configure your signage. This happens before any hardware is installed in your business. The system is tested and configured the way you like it. Once satisfied with the content of your signage, you’ll need to schedule an installer to mount the hardware in your place of business. After the hardware is installed, a member of our staff will mount the tiny computer to the rear of the television and configure it to talk to the Internet. We’ll then start up the computer and show you how to access the web page to add content to it.

Can I maintain the signage myself? Isn’t it difficult?

You can absolutely maintain it yourself. However, multi-location signage can be a bit hard to configure at first and will include a learning curve. It’s as easy as logging on to a website and adding your assets (photos, videos, news feeds, weather, etc.) For a small monthly fee, CaddisArt, Inc. can maintain your signage for you, based on your specifications.
