Paid Summer Internship Program

Through this grant-funded program we aim to arrange meaningful work experiences for individuals aged 14
through 21 at community-based employers for a period of six weeks during the summer. These paid internships
will consist of a work week of, at minimum, 15 to 20 hours per week, and pay at the minimum wage level, if
not more. Prior to their placement, each participant will have access to work readiness services, and during their
placement, we will provide sustained support for the participant and the host company.

Parameters of Membership:
Participants to be served under this grant will be students between the ages of 14 to 21 years old who are
receiving services through an Individualized Education Plan or Section 504 plan and are registered with DVRS.

Best Buddies will:
• Provide paid Pre-ETS six-week summer internships for participants with disabilities in Bergen, Hudson,
Mercer and Union counties.
• Conduct a Work-Based Learning Training for one week
• Arrange for Interns to be paid for a total of six weeks at $10 per hour effective July 1, 2019.

The host company will:
• Provide a comprehensive summer internship.
• Arrange for Internships to be for 15-20 hours per week for six weeks.
