Second Annual ALS Chocolate Meltdown

Join us for the Second Annual ALS Chocolate Meltdown Party on Thursday, September 26th at 6:30 P.M. at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. Hope Loves Company (HLC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing emotional and educational support to children and young adults who have or have had a loved one battling ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. HLC is the only non-profit in the U.S. with this specific mission.

ALS Chocolate Meltdown Party

The Second Annual ALS Chocolate Meltdown is the premier event to support Hope Loves Company and their free programs and resources for children and young adults whose lives have been touched by ALS.

Guests will enjoy a plethora of delectable chocolate treats, candies, food, and drinks, all while taking in the beautiful scenery of the Adventure Aquarium Currents Ballroom and Shark Realm – think of it as trick-or-treating for adults! There will be an open bar, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle!

VIP ticket-holders will have access ahead of the main event, from 6:00 – 7:30 P.M., to a raw seafood bar, pasta bar, champagne bar, butlered hors d’oeuvres, and an interactive aquarium experience, including a chance to meet one-on-one with a penguin and baby owl! Attendees and non-attendees can purchase a chocolate rose at $25.00 for a chance to win at least $1,000 in the 50/50 raffle.

ALS Facts

– ALS is a progressive neurological disease that causes damage to motor neurons and affects voluntary muscle movement. As the disease progresses, a person living with ALS will lose the ability to move, talk, swallow, and eventually breathe.
– ALS is fatal; there is no known cause or cure.
– Typically, someone living with ALS will live just two to five years after their diagnosis.
– Of the 30,000 Americans living with ALS, 85% have children who often become caregivers to their loved ones. Not only do they bathe, dress, feed, and care for their loved one living with ALS, they also must face the anticipatory grief of their loved one’s passing.

Jodi O’Donnell-Ames recognized the lack of resources available to children and young people whose lives have been touched by ALS while caring for her late husband, who was diagnosed at 29, when their daughter was just two years old. When her children became of college age, O’Donnell-Ames founded Hope Loves Company, the only non-profit in the United States with the specific mission to support children and young adults whose lives have been affected by ALS.

Hope Loves Company provides various free programs and services, including:

– Camp HLC: a 3-day weekend retreat where campers learn and develop coping and relaxation skills, as well as enjoy recreational activities such as hiking, canoeing, and fishing.
– HLC Kids Count ALS Conference: conference to help share information and resources to those who want to provide support to a child affected by ALS.
– Hugs of Hope care packages: includes a Camp HLC T-shirt, stuffed animal, children’s book about ALS, and a signed card from the HLC team.
– Family Fun Days: a day of team-building and recreational activities for families affected by ALS.
– Speaking: HLC founder and president, Jodi O’Donnell-Ames, speaks at schools, conferences, and events about the founding of Hope Loves Company, the joy of volunteerism, and living with a purpose.

Those who attend the ALS Chocolate Meltdown Party will not only enjoy an amazing evening of chocolate treats, food, drinks, and music, but they will also support a wonderful cause.
