Weekly Wine Tasting Series at The Peacock Inn

The Peacock Inn, the only luxury boutique hotel and fine dining restaurant in the heart of Princeton, is pleased to introduce Wine Wednesdays, a new weekly wine tasting series for 2019. From 4pm to 6pm on Wednesdays, the bar transforms into a vineyard-style tasting room, where the wine-curious can enjoy an educational wine tasting with complimentary fruit, cheese, charcuterie, crackers, and crudités. “Our program is devised to explore wineries and wine regions around the globe,” says Peacock Inn sommelier George Parkinson, who is known for his long-running wine column in the Bucks County Women’s Journal.

Winery representatives will be present at the events, pouring wines from their respective vineyards, and discussing wine production, flavor profile, and food pairing. The first event, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 4pm to 6pm, will feature Francis Ford Coppola Winery. At the second event, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, from 4pm to 6pm, experts from Stonestreet Winery will explain how altitude affects wine production. Additional events in the series will feature Gusbourne, Signorello Estate, Taittinger, and Brewer-Clifton, among others.

Next to a vacation in wine country, a local wine-tasting at The Peacock Inn is the best way to learn your Merlot from your Cabernet Sauvignon. The experience of tasting wine can be low-key and fun, surprisingly illuminating, and, with the right company, a bit romantic. And while everybody knows how to drink wine—sip, swallow, repeat—there is a trick to learning how to truly taste it. (Consider these insider tips: Don’t wear strong perfume, which can affect the taste buds. Do take notes, since a few glasses of wine can make one’s memory hazy.) Reservations are not required for Wine Wednesdays, $24 per person.
